• The Chinese rethink dog meat. This is only news to the West as the Chinese don't indulge in this culinary canine treat as often as is assumed.

• A revealing interview with China's ambassador to the UK, Madam Fu Ying, from the BBC's Today program. I think she's right to press back on the concept of differing value systems, something that people of all cultures often neglect to consider. That said, I still believe that China could broaden its emphasis on individuality without compromising social stability.
