My blog started as a repository for interesting but not always relevant bits of news I found trawling through the day's papers. Facebook is a good place to dump these nuggets, but friends can be finicky and I didn't want to bomb their newsfeed with stories about Pi being calculated to a record number of digits or the like. Nevertheless, I miss sharing those minor pieces that get lost in the shuffle, so here is a return to my News of the Day. We'll see how long this lasts.
- For what it's worth, Slate includes Wong Kar-Wai's 2000 Cannes hit In the Mood For Love as one of its "Films of the Decade."

- More double lives as Daily Beast unveils a gallery of dapper, debonaire double agents.
- The return of the cassette, yes, the tape variety.
- BBC denies anti-ginger agenda on Doctor Who.
- A royal double-take as the first painting of Princes William and Harry together goes up at the National Portrait Gallery.
- China's big ass academic fraud problem. This news surprises me none.
